I very rarely write in odd time signatures (other than ¾) but this tune’s in 7/4 time . It’s a very natural 7/4 though , split down the middle .

It’s a syncopated melody line with carefully placed noted that have a relationship to the notes in the underpinning bass harmonics ostinato .

The bass ostinato by the way , possibly looks more daunting to play on the printed page than it actually is ; It falls under the fingers quite readily.

The title came about because I knew that with that underpinning ostinato , It would allow  soloists to go to a whole lot of different places & be free to ‘Speak’ .

I’ve played this tune with a lot of different bands & it’s been released on several albums , but it really is one of those tunes that truly does go to a new place almost each times it’s played .
