From SS: Farewell Kimousabi - the first tune I wrote for Frock. I had been listening to Keith Jarrett's early 70s albums a bit around this time, and was starting to feel comfortable for the first time since I started playing Jazz, with the idea that not every chord had to have extensions and tensions on them to be legitimate. I had always loved pop music, and wanted to capture a mix of that, while moaning about a girlfriend who had moved on ( who is now my beloved wife). Rhythmically it was pretty simple, the first motif led the composition and didn't really progress much from there. The key to the whole song for me was the pause on the F#-11 towards the end. Hesitation so often leads to missed opportunities if one's intuition is strong but ignored, and without realising it, this was what had happened to me at the time in that relationship. This was a very uncerebral composition, it just happened while playing the guitar one night.
