Biography
Rodric White is an Australian musician whose fine skills as a pianist / arranger / singer have seen him perform / serve as music director for trumpeter / singer Benny Benack III (USA), bassist / singer Nicki Parrott (Australia / USA), saxophonist / clarinettist Adrian Cunningham (Australia / USA), International singers Julia Shved (Ukraine), Noria Letts (France), Patricia Ségui (France), Juliana Areias (Brazil), Marilane De Mello (Brazil), Magdalena Mira (Chile), Rachel Delgado (Chile / Uruguay), perform with leading Australian singers Simone Waddell, Rebekka Neville, Susan Gai Dowling, Helen Fenton, Deborah Dicembre, Dorian Mode, Gregg Arthur and Liam Burrows, plus leading Australian musicians Dale Barlow, Craig Walters, Jason Morphett, Ralph Pyl, Warwick Alder, Phil Slater, Al Davey, Andrew Dickeson, John Morrison, Dave Goodman, Dave Smith, Guy Strazz, Peter Zog, Jonathan Zwartz, Brendan Clarke, Craig Scott, Ed Gaston, Lloyd Swanton, Kevin Hailey and Andy Firth.
From 2015 to 2025, Rodric presented his 4 - 8 piece bands at FOUNDRY616 (Sydney’s premier jazz venue). Rodric has performed the Manly International Jazz Festival, The Basement, The Shangri-la Hotel Sydney, The Art Gallery of NSW, W Hotel and Sofitel (Darling Harbour), at Avoca Beach Theatre (NSW Central Coast), at Lizotte’s (Newcastle) and for Captain Cook and Vagabond Cruises (Sydney Harbour).
In January / February 2025 Rodric performed as a Guest Entertainer on board the prestigious Cunard Cruise Ship QUEEN ELIZABETH presenting eight Classical Piano Recitals on 12 and 16 day cruises of Queensland and the South Pacific.
Rodric was a finalist in the 1999 National Australian Jazz Piano Competition, graduating from the Associate Diploma of Jazz Studies Course (NSW Conservatorium) majoring Arranging / Jazz Piano and studying Classical Piano with Gerard Willems (Judge of the Sydney International Piano Competition / ABC Recording Artist). Rodric completed two years of intensive private music study with leading Sydney Pianist / Jazz Educator, Bobby Gebert. From August 2005 to September 2009, Rodric performed a broad range of musical styles and genres with International Musicians and Entertainers aboard the luxury ships of Royal Caribbean and Princess Cruise Lines in Europe, the United States, Canada / Alaska and the Caribbean.
On 29th March 2024, Rodric’s released his EP entitled ‘Forever And A Day’ featuring singers Magdalena Mira (Chile), Patricia Ségui (France) and Deborah Dicembre (Australia) accompanied by leading Sydney jazz musicians and Lushous Strings Quartet, recorded / mixed / mastered at Electric Avenue Studios (Sydney).
Rodric has released 4 albums : ‘Blues For Bob’ NEW3423.2 (Newmarket Music 2024) featuring Dale Barlow, ‘As Beautiful As Day’ NEW3418.2 (Newmarket Music 2022), ‘The Sea Of Tranquility’ NEW3192.2 (Newmarket Music 2006) featuring Deborah Dicembre and ‘New Jazz Directions’ NEW3291.2 (La Brava Music 1996 / reissued by Newmarket Music in 2011).
Rodric played piano / wrote arrangements for saxophonist Dale Barlow’s 1997 ABC Music release, ‘Playground’, wrote the String Quartet / Woodwind Trio arrangement of ‘Naiyi Nayawa’ (Gavi Duncan / the Central Coast Conservatorium of Music) and collaborated with pianist / singer Dorian Mode writing the arrangements for Dorian’s album, ‘Café In Venice’ (La Brava Music 2002). Rodric served as pianist / music director/ composer for French singer Patricia Ségui’s album « Je Vagabonde » released in 2017.
