Biography

Holly is an award-winning Melbourne based saxophonist and composer. Having recently returned from living in New York City for the last year, she is cementing her place as a diverse and dynamic new voice in the Australian jazz scene.
Holly is the 2020 recipient of the Melbourne International Jazz Festivals program Take Note, she is currently working on a new suite of music for a sextet comprising of some of Melbourne’s finest established and emerging musicians. As an advocate for women in jazz, Holly will also be leading music workshops throughout schools in Victoria.
She has performed at various festivals including the Melbourne International Jazz Festival and the Melbourne International Women’s Jazz Festival.  Her minimalist duo ‘Scandinavia’s Greatest Hits’ has performed at the NGV’s summer series as part of the M-Pavilion, Ferdydurke and more.  Holly has played at local clubs including Bennetts Lane, the JazzLab, Uptown Jazz Cafe, the Paris Cat, the Evelyn and the Grace Darling as a leader and sidewoman.
Holly completed her BA at Monash University where she performed with Paul Grabowsky in the Australian Art Orchestra and the Young Wagilak Group.  She has completed her Honours degree at the Victorian College of the Arts where she studied Lee Konitz, melody development method with Angela Davis, Andrea Keller and Geoff Hughes. She holds a Grad. Dip. in Arts and Community Engagement from the VCA.
